Two thirds of those living with HIV reside in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southern African countries have been disproportionately affected with adult rates as high as 30%. Zimbabwe is one such country and this is where part of ACET Ireland’s work is based with the Matilda Project.
We support local volunteers led by local leaders to provide Home-Based Care to some of the most isolated individuals and families impacted by HIV & AIDS, including in rural areas. We also support a school-based breakfast programme that feeds 2,500 children every day.
Matilda continues ACET’s ethos of working in the margins of society, building relationships of trust and mutuality within local supports. For more information check out www.matildaproject.com
